# Reports and briefs

> Build cross-platform reports, save a dashboard view, and schedule a recurring brief.

Use reports for a scorecard, a board summary, or a recurring brief. Report tools are read-only until you explicitly export or schedule delivery.

## Create a report

1. Call `get_connections_status`.
2. Build the scorecard with `generate_cross_platform_report`.
3. Export to Google Sheets only when you ask, with `export_report_google_sheets`.
4. Save the layout with `save_custom_dashboard_view` when you want it on the dashboard.

Review the result at [Reports](https://adsmcp.si/dashboard/reports).

## Schedule a brief

1. Call `list_scheduled_tasks` before creating or changing a schedule, so you do not duplicate one.
2. Create delivery with `schedule_brief`.
3. Update, pause, or remove a schedule with `manage_scheduled_task`.

Manage existing briefs at [Scheduled Briefs](https://adsmcp.si/dashboard/scheduled-briefs).

`schedule_brief` stores cadence, timezone, recipients, platform scope, account scope, and output channels. Omitted cadence is `weekly`. Omitted timezone is `UTC`. Omitted platform scope is `meta`. Omitted output channel is `dashboard`. The dashboard form offers daily, weekly, and monthly. A recipient list on that form also sets the email channel.

`manage_scheduled_task` uses `task_id` and an action of `pause`, `resume`, or `delete`. A missing task returns `scheduled_task_not_found`.

`export_report_csv` returns CSV text. `export_report_google_sheets` returns a values payload and does not write the spreadsheet. Column and filename details are on [Analysis](/analysis).

A scheduled brief does not approve a budget change. If the brief recommends a write, that recommendation still goes through [Approvals](/approvals).
