# TikTok targeting

> Read TikTok regions, languages, interests, bid suggestions, Spark identities, and reusable assets.

These reads use the TikTok connection. See [TikTok Ads](/ad-platforms/tiktok-ads). Audience creates and file uploads stay on [TikTok audiences and assets](/ad-platforms/tiktok-audiences).

Every tool below requires `advertiser_id`. A missing advertiser id returns no rows. `page` starts at 1. `page_size` uses `page_size` when you set it, otherwise `limit`. The omitted page size is 25.

| Tool | Extra arguments | Result key |
| - | - | - |
| `get_tiktok_regions` | Page fields | `regions` |
| `get_tiktok_languages` | Page fields | `languages` |
| `get_tiktok_interest_categories` | `language` | `interest_categories` |
| `get_tiktok_interest_keywords` | `keyword` or `query` | `keywords` |
| `search_tiktok_targeting_options` | `query` | `targeting_options` |
| `get_tiktok_spark_identities` | `identity_type` | `identities` |
| `discover_tiktok_existing_assets` | `asset_type` | `assets` |

`search_tiktok_targeting_options` uses the same interest-keyword recommendation as `get_tiktok_interest_keywords`. The query is stored on the response as `query`.

`discover_tiktok_existing_assets` treats `asset_type: image` as the image library. An omitted type, `video`, and `carousel` read the video library.

`get_tiktok_bid_recommendations` accepts `objective_type` and a `targeting` object. An omitted targeting object is sent as an empty object. The result key is `bid_recommendations`. The read leaves the live bid unchanged.

## Objective map

`explain_tiktok_objective` takes `goal`. It returns a mapping and leaves the account unchanged.

| `goal` | Objective | What the mapping asks for |
| - | - | - |
| `leads` | `LEAD_GENERATION` | A pixel event `FORM` or a published Instant Form `page_id`. |
| `sales` | `WEB_CONVERSIONS` | A numeric `pixel_id` and an `optimization_event` that pixel supports. |
| `traffic` | `TRAFFIC` | A landing page URL. |
| `app_installs` | `APP_PROMOTION` | The app id and store. |
| `video_views` | `VIDEO_VIEWS` | A `video_id` or `tiktok_item_id`. |

Any other goal returns `status: blocked` and `allowed_goals`.
